Getting there
How to Get to Corsica
Plane or ferry: two ways to reach the Island of Beauty Whether you choose to fly or take the ferry depends on your departure point and your sense of adventure. With four international airports and several ports, Corsica is easy to reach, whether you prefer a quick arrival or a more leisurely journey.
Flying: The fast and convenient option
Corsica has four international airports, allowing you to arrive quickly—often in less than two hours—from major French cities like Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Lille, or Nice. Around 20 airlines, including low-cost options, serve these airports.
- Calvi Sainte-Catherine: Located in the northwest of Corsica, this airport is perfect for those wishing to explore the stunning Balagne region. It’s just a 10-minute drive from Calvi’s town center, making it a convenient gateway to your holiday destination.
Taking the ferry: Travel at your own pace with your vehicle
If you prefer to take your time and bring your own car, the ferry is a fantastic option. Ferries depart from several Mediterranean cities, including Nice, Toulon, and Marseille, and arrive at the Corsican ports of Bastia, Calvi, l'Île-Rousse, Propriano, and Porto-Vecchio. The crossing takes between six and twelve hours, depending on your departure point and whether you choose a night crossing. Onboard, you’ll find plenty of amenities, including restaurants, to make your journey enjoyable.
- From Marseille: Corsica Linea offers routes to Ajaccio, Bastia, and l'Île-Rousse, while La Méridionale sails to Ajaccio and Propriano.
- From Toulon or Nice: Corsica Ferries will take you to Ajaccio, Bastia, Porto-Vecchio, or l'Île-Rousse.
Flying or ferry: Which is best?
If you’re looking for speed, flying is likely your best bet, with direct flights from many major French cities. Once you arrive, you can rent a car at one of Corsica’s airports (Ajaccio, Bastia, Figari, or Calvi).
While ferry crossings take longer, they offer the advantage of bringing your own vehicle—a valuable asset for exploring Corsica.
